How it started
With a search results page that had stopped making sense. Product advice that rounded every edge. Blog posts that answered questions nobody asked. Images with six-fingered hands and implausible seafood. At some point the question shifted from "was a machine involved?" to "why does nobody care about this?" — and the second question turned out to be measurable.
What we actually do
We run deterministic heuristics on text: a tiered dictionary of overused words, a cliché-phrase list, structure signals, diversity and substance measures. No AI inference, no API calls, no accounts. The analysis happens in your browser, and your text stays on your device — which is also why the site costs almost nothing to run and can stay free.
Why this matters
AI detectors guess authorship and get it wrong often enough to ruin days. We ask a different question — is this worth reading? — and show our work: every score comes with the factors and matches behind it, so you can disagree with reasons instead of trusting a number.

- Privacy by architecture — local analysis, not local analysis after upload.

Editorial standards & research
Every article, taxonomy entry, and heuristic dictionary rule on AISlopScanneris researched, written, and maintained by human writers and software engineers. We do not publish unvetted synthetic articles. Our word tiers and structural heuristics are calibrated against real-world corpora of both high-quality literature and AI-generated marketing copy.
Funding & advertising transparency
AISlopScanner is independent and free to use. To cover domain hosting, continuous maintenance, and development of our open heuristic algorithms, we display non-intrusive digital advertisements from certified advertising partners including Google AdSense.
Advertising partners never influence our slop detection scores or editorial judgments. Furthermore, because text evaluation runs strictly on your device via client-side code, advertisers never receive, process, or see the text you scan.
